Searching for the right journal to detail those dreams, sketch a visualization, or explore the vast universe of inner self? Each book is completely unique, handmade, and handbound with conscious intention to hold your stories and dreams with reverence.
While I’m a small-batch artist at heart, I also offer completely custom pieces.
An Ancient, Durable Craft
I primarily specialize in the Coptic stitch binding method, a technique over 2,000 years old that allows each journal to open completely flat—ideal for writers, artists, dreamers and planners.
Coptic-bound journals are just as durable as store-bought journals (and sometimes even more so). Strong, robust stitching stands the test of time against mass-produced, glue-based products. Over time and use, the ability for a Coptic-bound journal to lie flat also reduces the amount of strain on the spine.
Handmade, Start to Finish
From measuring and cutting all journal pages by hand with an exacto-knife to waxing my own thread with sustainable beeswax, my journals are crafted with care and that increasingly elusive personal touch.
The creation process generally follows:
Measuring and cutting journal pages before printing lines or grids as requested.
Building the hardcovers from acid-free book board, beautiful cover papers, and archival-quality glue. Each hardcover is pressed under heavy weight for a minimum of 24 hours to ensure quality.
Measuring, marking and punching the holes needed for binding.
Waxing the thread (which aids durability and journal longevity).
Planning a beautiful stitch and weaving it all together!
