We had flown in a cargo plane (most likely some sort of C-130) to the abandoned Lieutenant Arturo Parodi base just east of the Ellsworth Mountains. The blue-ice runway had been resurfaced recently with the discovery of a curious shape protruding from those mountains: a perfectly symmetrical pyramid.
