Spiritual Dreams and a Soul Dream Experience
(The following article was originally published on my old website in November 2022)
Most of the dreams you have are psychological in nature, assisting you in retaining and integrating new, learned information. But spiritual dreams are on the rise and there are plenty different types of these dreams waiting for you to experience them.
Some of these uncommon experiences can present themselves as precognitive or prophetic dreams, visitations from past loved ones, direct messages from the universe or entities, and even resolutive soul dream experiences.
Whether you’re experiencing a psychological dream or a spiritual dream, the intention is the same: to lead your soul to a greater understanding of who you are.
Spiritual Dreams
If you’ve ever interacted or seen a departed loved one in a dream, had a feeling that your dream might come true or dreamt something so bizarre that there was no possible way you’d encountered the imagery or other information in the dream before, you’ve probably had a spiritual dream.
Spiritual dreams are scientifically complicated to explain but a majority of people have reported experiencing dreams of a spiritual nature.
The following types of spiritual dreams describe some of the most commonly experienced.
Visitation Dreams
Visitation dreams are the experience of encountering an ancestral presence, still-living human individual or other energetic entity in the dream space. These dreams can be experienced as anything from a conversation with your deceased Grandma to traveling across the stars with an ET.
I believe that there is both a psychological and a spiritual explanation for visitation dreams.
Psychologically, visitation dreams are the interaction between your subconscious and a part of your memory that presents itself as the deceased loved one, currently-living individual or other being.
This interaction can be psychologically beneficial in helping some people find resolution or closure to an open or perceived conflict in circumstances where they can no longer communicate with the other individual involved.
Say you weren’t there when Grandma passed and you’re holding onto some residual guilt. By experiencing a visitation dream with your Grandma, your subconscious could finally be playing out that conversation you wished you’d had in order to release that feeling of guilt. As Grandma has already passed and the resolution cannot be completed in your waking life, your subconscious steps in to help facilitate an internal resolution in order for you to continue living a life not consumed by guilt.
In the case with currently-living individuals, I have personally experienced a resolutive visitation dream with my own mother. I am currently estranged from my family but still feel connected to their energy and this dream experience with my mother helped me to find some sort of internal resolution that freed me to move forward with my life.
Spiritually, I believe that visitation dreams can also involve legitimate interactions with the souls or energies of loved ones who have passed and any other type of energetic being that exists for you.
Whether grandma is stopping by to say hi and that she supports you or an ET wants to show you planet Venus, these spiritual visitation dream experiences can be incredibly validating, supportive and expansive!
False Awakenings
Similar to lucid dreams, false awakenings indicate input from your conscious awareness.
If you’ve ever experienced the sensation or belief of waking up, looking around and seeing your everyday surroundings while thinking that you were awake only to then actually wake up and realize it was all a dream, you’ve experienced a false awakening.
Some people have reported multiple false awakenings back-to-back. I myself have had a series of dreams in which I had 3 back-to-back false awakenings: a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream.
I believe that false awakenings have 2 main purposes: to visually and experientially indicate the different layers within a theme currently being explored in your life or to separate a spiritual or cosmic message from your psychological dreams. Basically, false awakenings are loud, blaring signals calling for your attention to a very specific part of a dream.
When used by your subconscious to explore the different layers of a dream theme, false awakenings can help reinforce structure or introduce a timeline of events within a dream.
If the false awakening is being used to isolate a cosmic message for you, it might feel more jarring than just separating layers.
For example, imagine that you’re in the middle of a psychological dream and walking around your childhood home. Suddenly, the scene shifts without you moving in the dream space and you’re transported to some temple ruins in a rainforest where you experience some wild, random or unexplained imagery. Then you wake up in your bed, look around and wonder what that was all about only to then wake up again and realize that this is now your reality, the first time you woke up was a false awakening.
The feeling of a false awakening, of double checking that you’re really awake once out of the dream space, is a way for your subconscious to aid in your dream recall ability for this particular dream message.
If you ever have a false awakening, try to take note of what you can remember, what you feel like the message means to you and why the message you’ve received would be important. It can also be helpful to dive into a dream interpretation or get some external feedback from the experience.
Precognitive and Prophetic Dreams
Littered throughout history are stories of precognitive and prophetic dreams in which the dreamer experienced a scenario that predicted the future or felt like it would actually come pass. Some of these dreams have actually done so and you can read some examples here.
Thousands of years ago dreams were widely accepted as an important and foundational part of life and were referenced with much more credibility than they are today. Precognitive and prophetic dreams were sought after by everyone from kings to shepherds.
Today, there are many people who still claim to have prophetic dreams.
I believe that there are 2 types of precognitive dreams: that the subconscious is psychologically boiling down probabilities into likely outcomes and that scenes, imagery or knowledge of future events is transmitted to you, the dreamer, through a spiritual or energetic experience in the dream space.
In the case of probabilities, I believe that the subconscious is constantly taking note of the almost completely imperceptible signals and experiences of your life and even the subtleties of interactions with other human beings and animals. The subconscious takes this multitude of minute information, boils it down, and then calculates the most likely probability of an outcome based on that information.
The more information you pick up, the higher the probability of having a precognitive dream will be. If that information is overwhelmingly pointing to a single future path or outcome the probability of the accuracy also increases.
If a precognitive dream is shared spiritually, it may come through a deceased loved one, ancestor, guide, angel, ET or whatever else you believe exists.
I believe that there is so much within this universe that is not consciously understood nor defined yet by science that anything is possible.
If guides, ancestors or angels are sharing information about events that are currently the most probable in the pipeline of reality, there is most likely a purpose in their doing so and I would encourage you to take note of anything that feels like a prediction.
Shared Dreams
One of the most powerful types of spiritual dreams are shared dreams.
A shared dream is when you feel like you’ve had an incredibly real dream experience with someone that you know in waking life and you are then able to confirm with this individual that they did indeed have the same dream.
When we dream about specific people in a common or psychological dream, we aren’t actually interacting with that person but rather an aspect or part of ourselves that takes on the likeness of that individual.
However, when we experience a shared dream, we are actually interacting with the energy of that individual. This means that our souls or consciousness energies are entering the same dream space together.
Most often, a shared dream is experienced between two intimate or closely connected individuals who are invested in the success or wholeness of each other.
A shared dream between these two people can occur when one individual is not in alignment with their soul or is actively ignoring the signs and messages that their subconscious has been trying to send them. The soul of the other individual may become aware of this and seek out a shared dream to gain further insight into how they can help their close friend or partner and help them receive the message.
I recently encountered someone seeking an interpretation for an incredibly powerful shared dream. They shared this dream with their best friend who confirmed that it was in fact a shared dream. While I was interpreting, I actually noticed that the interpretation was for the seeker’s friend, not themself.
With a little back and forth it came to light that the friend was currently experiencing a build-up of life difficulties that they were actively ignoring which had the potential to cause them internal harm if the memories were not addressed soon. The seeker of the interpretation received the message of the shared dream and was then able to help guide they’re friend to listen to the messages that had built up within them.
Shared dreams are signs from the universe that you’re not alone. Not only do they communicate an important message with the intent of helping you succeed in life but they also show you where you can find support within your friends and family.
A Soul Dream Experience
I’ve had exceptionally detailed dreams my whole life but for the last 10 years I’ve been actively recording and analyzing my dreams. In my experience and self-research I’ve come across a type of dream that I have come to define as a soul dream experience.
Soul dreams are major, resolutive psychological dreams on a cosmic scale. They may feel like you have encountered the Heart of Source itself, like you’re on another planet, that you are pure energy, or a myriad of other mystical experiences. The imagery, sights, sounds and feelings of these dreams may be beyond your comprehension.
A Review Of Psychological Dreams
Let’s revisit psychological dreams real quick. Common or psychological dreams are the process that our subconscious utilizes to update our reality and old memories with new information and experiences. This update to our reality is how we learn, move through life, and open ourselves to new experiences.
Throughout your life, you might have a few psychological dreams that stand out to you in particular that feel like you successfully accomplished something or found resolution within. These dreams are incredibly powerful as they show internal progress on conquering difficult themes in our lives.
For example, if you struggled with negative self-talk for years and years but finally started doing the internal or psychological work to change this belief you will most likely hit a point where you feel like you’ve made exceptional progress or where you’ve released your negative self-talk tendencies for good. This waking-life resolution will most likely integrate itself across your consciousness levels in an incredibly powerful dream, updating your reality with the work that you’ve been doing and solidifying the effort and work that you’ve put into yourself over your total life story.
A soul dream experience is the resolutive processing of themes or lessons that have transcended lifetimes.
Resolution Through Reincarnation
I believe that this existence is one of many that we either have had or will have. Reincarnation is not a new theory and many cultures across the globe treat it as fact.
The theory of reincarnation is based upon the existence of a soul. Your soul is an energy that inhabits one body for an entire lifetime and then it may inhabit another.
I believe that the point of each soul is to experience as many aspects of life and humanity as possible. Much like our species has evolved over time in a physical sense, so too do souls evolve over their entire existence, learning and retaining knowledge over the span of multiple lifetimes.
Your soul retains all of the information from every existence it has ever had. However, we may not remember all of this information in each lifetime because it would be too much for our limited, physical brain to process.
Throughout these lifetimes we encounter some lessons that are so detailed or difficult in nature that we may not learn them in one go, it might take us 3, 10, or even 20 lifetimes to learn a universal lesson.
For example, I have a teacher wound that has lingered on my soul for many lifetimes and has become a lesson for my soul to learn. In one of my past lives, I taught and shared knowledge with others that I believed helped people.
However, some of the individuals that I taught used my knowledge to start bloody wars and many people suffered as a result. In this lifetime, my soul was so devastated and felt so responsible for the misuse of my knowledge that I vowed I would never teach others on that scale again.
I went on to live a series of 10–20 lifetimes that focused on learning basic lessons of humanity, developing my empathy and intuitive knowledge, and pursuing love among other experiences. Finally, in my current incarnation, it is time for me to be a teacher once again and to share my knowledge with the world.
Integrating The Lesson Across Your Soul
For the first 30 years of my life, I experienced difficulty, trauma, and physically-manifested memories of how hurt my soul was, but I also did the internal work. I no longer feel hyper-responsible for everyone and everything. I recognize that I am a human being who is doing the best she can, I share my knowledge with the intention of sharing love, peace, and the pathway to wholeness. I do not have to be responsible for the actions of others.
This information, this resolution, presented itself to me in a powerful soul dream experience.
I was shown memories of my past lifetimes in which I put this teacher wound upon myself. I was shown how I hid my knowledge in the lifetimes after and tried to be small. Finally, my soul integrated the new resolutive knowledge that I had learned in this lifetime: that it is safe for me to teach and share what I know.
A soul dream experience is the integration of a major life lesson across your total soul existence.
If you have learned a crucial lesson during this lifetime or have come through a huge turning point or moment that defines your current life, think back to that time and if you had any profoundly out-of-this-world dreams after that experience. Odds are, you’ve integrated that lesson across the very fabric of your soul.
Opening Up To Your Dreams
Experiencing energetic and spiritual dreams can be a bit frightening, weird or unsettling. Hopefully this article has quelled any fear of the experiences available to you and sparked the flame of curiosity.
Opening up to the many possibilities that dreams present can lead to an opening of your internal awareness.
A heightened sense of awareness is more crucial in our current age of existence than ever before. Understanding who we are not just on a psychological level, but a spiritual and energetic level as well, can help you open the door to your own internal universe.
It is my personal mission to share my knowledge of spiritual dreams and soul dream experiences to light the fire of your soul’s curiosity within you.
